The oldest tree on campus is believed to be the jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata) growing in the grassed triangle next to the path, east of the Tropical Grove. Jackson Court had a jarrah of a similar size which died. A cross section was taken from the main trunk by the Botany department and they estimated the tree to be 800 years old. The cross section still exits and is kept at the School of Botany.
