Elise Blumann, Summer Nude, 1939
Elise Blumann was a German-born artist who arrived in Perth in 1938 and lived close to the University, by the Swan River in Nedlands. When Summer Nude was exhibited at Perth's Newspaper House Art Gallery in 1944 it caused a minor scandal for its forthright depiction of female sexuality.
