A. B. Facey's autobiography is an Australian classic. It recounts his childhood on farms in the Wickepin area of Western Australia, and the difficulties he overcame in his lifetime – including being badly wounded at Gallipoli. Published by Fremantle Arts Centre Press in 1981, it was later adapted for stage and screen.
