Badanga, Dijirban
Badanga, Dijirban (Banaidja), Wonguri mada (with advice from Njambi, Waramiri mada), yiridja moiety, Yirrkala, North-Eastern Arnhem Land, 1960
This rangga is called dijirban (Banaidja), the son of Laindjung, in the manifestation of a galdar bobbin. It is also regarded as Laindjung himself manifested in his son. His chest bears the horizontal drying marks of the water, left as he emerged from the sea at Blue Mud Bay. This work was sent to Ronald Berndt in 1960 by Badanga, who was the leader of the Elcho Island Adjustment Movement, as a personal gift of appreciation for publicising the plight of Yolgnu people internationally.
