The Physics bas-relief on the Geography and Geology building depicts five of the great names in the history of physics: Archimedes (lever and screw), Galileo (telescope), Isaac Newton (gravity), Lord Kelvin (ship's compass) and Albert Einstein (relativity). The Chemistry bas-relief includes: Joseph Priestly (pneumatic chemistry, study of gases), John Dalton (atomic theory), Robert Boyle (pressure and gas laws), Michael Faraday (electro-magnetism) and William Henry Perkin (aniline dyes).
