Victor Wager, Diotima, 1937
Diotima is a female seer who plays an important role in Plato's Symposium. Her ideas are the origin of the concept of Platonic love. The inscriptions carved into the plinth in Greek and English are a dialogue between Socrates and Diotima. The bust was a gift from Professor Hubert Whitfeld and his wife, Frances, as a companion to the sculpture of Socrates.
