Arthur Boyd, Mother and Child
Arthur Boyd, Mother and Child
Arthur Boyd, Mother and Child, 1954
During his long career Arthur Boyd worked with a range of media and created an impressive body of ceramic work. Mother and Child is characterised by exaggerated facial features, particularly the large bulging eyes of the mother, suggesting vigilance towards her offspring. A Cubist influence is apparent in the flattened profiles of the children's heads.

Glazed ceramic, 61 x 46 x 22 cm
