Speakers and performers from all over the world have graced the stage in Winthrop Hall, but for many thousands of undergraduates, it is best known as an examination venue. For years students have bent their heads over exam papers and tried to condense a semester's learning into a two-hour paper. On these occasions there is no shuffling of programs or whispering of audience members but instead the scratch of pen on paper and the occasional sigh, possibly in expectation of celebrations to come.
